Steve Judd, Operations Manager for BAL Office Partitioning represented his country in the over 45 European Senior Tennis Championships in Majorca last October.
Having played tennis at national level throughout his life, Steve was selected to play for Great Britain’s over 45s team as part of a seven man squad.
The over 45s tournament it held every year in October with squad selection taking place in June/July.
Although some countries sent ex professionals, those representing Great Britain were all amateurs playing at a national level. This was based on the squad selectors’ decision to give another group of players the opportunity of representing their country.
Steve has played for Warwickshire through adult age groups, is a qualified tennis coach and is currently Captain of Warwickshire over 45s.
BAL Group was extremely pleased to have the opportunity to support Steve and the team in their achievements by sponsoring them during the tournament.
Great Britain was drawn with France, Italy and Holland in their group and played 3 singles and 2 doubles matches a day. The squad’s competition started against France whose team were the favourites in the tournament.
Although beaten by Italy and France and after a “good battle with the Dutch”, GB qualified into play offs against Turkey who they subsequently beat.
The winners of the competition were Germany who had sent an impressively strong team, somewhat lacking in terms of numbers, but certainly not in performance!
